The introduction of sign up by email create a great impact on the previous method for signing up which was only possible through facebook. Extra steps had to be added to the process to ensure the safety of VarageSale members and confirm identity. For that purpose steps like email and telephone number had to be including in the flow.

Content structure hampering user’s conversion

The following hypothesis was tested along the design process: Although a community is mandatory for a user to buy & sell on VarageSale, forcing the user to join a community before they decide whether or not to join the platform; is creating unnecessary friction and extra steps in the flow ,affecting user’s first experience and conversion rate.

Proposed sign up flow structure

The objective is to visualize the different touch points and actions involved in the deployment of different phases of the project and highlight possible issues or unexpected outcomes that will come up later in the process and affect timelines and stakeholders expectations. With this information available product owners and project managers could reassess and better manage priorities, requirements, timelines and resources.
